Contributor License Agreement (CLA)
This Contributor License Agreement (“CLA”) applies to all contributions submitted to the TaxisDB Platform
The TaxisDB Platform consists of:
- TaxisDB — the database engine, licensed under SSPLv1
- TaxisBase — the knowledge base, ontology, and structured database contents, licensed under ODbL v1.0 + DBCL v1.0
By submitting a Contribution, you agree to the terms of this Agreement.
1. Definitions
Project
The TaxisDB Platform, including:
- TaxisDB database engine
- TaxisBase knowledge base
- Documentation
- Examples
- Tools
- Build scripts
- Tests
- Specifications
- APIs
- Related project materials
Contribution
Any material intentionally submitted to the Project, including but not limited to:
- source code
- database schema
- ontology changes
- entity definitions
- database contents
- facts (datoms)
- documentation
- examples
- tests
- bug fixes
- patches
- translations
- artwork
- comments intended for inclusion
Contributor
The individual or legal entity submitting a Contribution.
Project Owner
Athanassios, the copyright holder and maintainer of the TaxisDB Platform.
2. Copyright Ownership
You retain the copyright to your Contributions.
By submitting a Contribution, you grant the Project Owner the rights described in this Agreement.
You represent that you have the legal authority to submit the Contribution.
3. Copyright License Grant
You grant the Project Owner a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- use
- copy
- reproduce
- modify
- adapt
- publish
- distribute
- sublicense
- combine
- create derivative works from
your Contribution.
This includes the right to incorporate your Contribution into:
- TaxisDB
- TaxisBase
- official project releases
- documentation
- commercial editions
- future versions of the Project
4. Relicensing Rights
You acknowledge that the TaxisDB Platform uses multiple licenses.
Accordingly, you grant the Project Owner the right to license or relicense your Contribution under any license chosen for the Project, including but not limited to:
- SSPLv1
- ODbL v1.0
- DBCL v1.0
- Commercial License Agreements
- future versions or successor licenses
This right is perpetual and irrevocable.
5. Patent License
You grant the Project Owner and recipients of the Project a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free patent license for any patent claims necessarily infringed by your Contribution.
The license includes the right to:
- make
- use
- modify
- distribute
- sell
- offer for sale
- import
- otherwise exploit
the Contribution as part of the Project.
If you initiate patent litigation alleging that the Project infringes your patents, this patent license terminates with respect to you.
6. Moral Rights
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you waive any moral rights that would prevent the Project Owner from modifying, adapting, or redistributing your Contribution.
Nothing in this Agreement prevents the Project from providing attribution where appropriate.
7. Contributor Representations
You represent that:
- you created the Contribution yourself, or have the legal right to submit it;
- you have the authority to grant the rights described in this Agreement;
- the Contribution does not knowingly infringe the intellectual property rights of others;
- the Contribution is not subject to any conflicting legal obligation;
- the Contribution is submitted voluntarily and without expectation of compensation unless otherwise agreed in writing.
8. No Obligation to Accept Contributions
The Project Owner is under no obligation to:
- review
- accept
- merge
- publish
- maintain
- distribute
any Contribution.
Submitting a Contribution does not guarantee its inclusion in the Project.
9. Contribution Records
You acknowledge that the Project may:
- publicly attribute Contributions to you;
- maintain contribution history;
- retain commit metadata;
- preserve authorship information where appropriate;
- reference this CLA in project records.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Greece, unless otherwise required by applicable law or agreed in writing.
11. Entire Agreement
This Contributor License Agreement constitutes the complete agreement between the Contributor and the Project Owner regarding Contributions to the TaxisDB Platform.
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
