TaxisDB Platform Contributor Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct defines the standards expected from all contributors, maintainers, and community participants involved with the TaxisDB Platform.

The TaxisDB Platform includes:

  • TaxisDB — database engine licensed under SSPLv1
  • TaxisBase — knowledge base licensed under ODbL v1.0 + DBCL v1.0

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to create a respectful, collaborative, and safe environment for everyone participating in the TaxisDB Platform.

This Code applies to all project-related activities, including:

  • GitHub/GitLab repositories
  • Source code contributions
  • Issue trackers
  • Pull requests
  • Discussions
  • Community channels
  • Documentation contributions
  • Project events
  • Other official communication spaces

The Project welcomes contributions from individuals of all backgrounds, experience levels, and technical abilities.

2. Expected Behavior

All contributors and community members are expected to:

2.1 Be Respectful

Treat all participants with professionalism and courtesy.

Technical disagreements are expected and encouraged. Personal attacks, hostility, and disrespect are not acceptable.

2.2 Be Constructive

Provide:

  • Clear feedback
  • Useful suggestions
  • Technical explanations
  • Actionable recommendations

Criticism should focus on improving the Project, not attacking individuals.

2.3 Be Inclusive

Participants should create an environment where people can contribute without discrimination, hostility, or exclusion.

2.4 Be Professional

Communication should remain appropriate for a technical open-source project.
Participants should:

  • Assume good intent
  • Communicate clearly
  • Respect different viewpoints
  • Avoid unnecessary conflict

2.5 Follow Project Rules and Licenses

All contributions must comply with the Project’s policies, including:

  • Contributor License Agreement (CLA)
  • TaxisDB License Terms
  • TaxisBase ODbL + DBCL Terms
  • Trademark Policy
  • Security Guidelines

Contributors acknowledge that accepted contributions may be used in:

  • Open-source releases
  • Commercial versions
  • Future versions of the Project

3. Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are prohibited.

3.1 Harassment and Abuse

Including:

  • Personal insults
  • Threats
  • Intimidation
  • Targeted harassment
  • Personal attacks

3.2 Discrimination

Discriminatory behavior based on protected characteristics is prohibited, including discrimination based on:

  • Nationality
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Sexual orientation
  • Disability
  • Religion
  • Other protected characteristics

3.3 Disruptive Conduct

Including:

  • Repeatedly derailing technical discussions
  • Spam
  • Deliberate disruption
  • Bad-faith participation
  • Creating unnecessary conflict

3.4 Unethical Contribution Practices

Prohibited practices include:

  • Submitting code or content without proper rights
  • Plagiarism
  • Violating third-party licenses
  • Misrepresenting authorship
  • Intentionally introducing malicious code

3.5 Misrepresentation

Participants must not falsely claim:

  • Official Project status
  • Maintainer authority
  • Partnership
  • Endorsement
  • Certification

without explicit authorization.

4. Maintainer Responsibilities

Project maintainers are responsible for:

  • Reviewing contributions fairly
  • Communicating decisions respectfully
  • Applying this Code consistently
  • Explaining contribution decisions when appropriate
  • Protecting Project security and integrity
  • Maintaining a healthy community environment

Maintainers may:

  • Reject contributions
  • Remove inappropriate content
  • Restrict participation
  • Take corrective action

when behavior violates this Code, licensing requirements, or Project policies.

5. Reporting Violations

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to:

Reports will be handled with appropriate confidentiality.
Retaliation against individuals who report violations in good faith is prohibited.

6. Consequences of Violations

Depending on the severity and circumstances, violations may result in:

  • Private warnings
  • Requests to correct behavior
  • Temporary restriction from community spaces
  • Permanent removal from discussions or repositories
  • Rejection of contributions
  • Removal of contributor privileges
  • Legal action when required

The Project reserves the right to remove contributors who repeatedly or seriously violate this Code.

7. Scope

This Code applies to:

  • Source code contributions
  • Database contributions
  • Documentation
  • Discussions
  • Issue reports
  • Pull requests
  • Community interactions
  • Project events
  • Any interaction involving Project contributors or maintainers

8. Amendments

The Project Owner may update this Code of Conduct when necessary.
Contributors and community members are responsible for reviewing the current version of this Code.
